Food For Thought...

These common service questions are not only amateur, but VERY consequential.

  • "Did you save room for dessert?" OR... "Would you like to see a dessert menu?"

In most cases, this is a bonafide sales killer. Dessert should absolutely be part of the dining experience you are proud to offer, and there is an entire system and correct approach to it, every time.

  • "Hello. How are you?"

First Impression: from a communication standpoint, you've already lost their attention.

Guests with a powerful presence and daily decision-making duties find utter small talk to be tedious, boring, and a waste of their valuable time. After this weak introduction, you will need to fight much harder to earn their respect and gain their trust.

  • "Are you still working on that?"

Simply put, this is colloquial slang.
Does that sound like the proper verbiage of a professional?

There is a much better way.

  • Do any (or all) of these questions resonate with you?

If the answer is yes, fix it.
Take your service to the next level.
    That's what we do.
We take the time to build a very solid foundation, with which you may then build your great service upon.

Frequently Asked Questions

About The Program

  • Is this course meant for 1 person? (Like 1 waiter or waitress?)

This course is designed for both waitstaff individuals, as well as entire staff enrollment (which features a volume discount).

  • What makes this Hospitality Optimization Service Training program such an improvement over regular waitstaff training?

Short answer: Orientation, and Foundation-Building Fundamentals.
Traditional waitstaff training generally involves a somewhat disjointed on-boarding, along with several shifts of 'shadowing' other waitstaff members (learning either good or bad habits along the way), before being turned loose on their own.

Our H.O.S.T. Program breaks down the history and psychology of what we are doing, and why. A deeper understanding yields a deeper personal connection and understanding of what 'being taken care of' truly means.

Expectations are laid out, and the guest becomes paramount; Not because someone told you they are. Because you feel that they are.

This orientation and foundation-building process also makes the shadowing that will follow much more effective.

The same hired position can be approached as a common 'order-taker', or as a 'food & beverage powerbroker'.

    Which would you rather be?
Which would you rather have taking care of you?

  • How does this training make the check average go up?

    Professionalization yields results.

This coursework teaches techniques for understanding guest dynamics and establishing trust.

This is fundamental in moving forward to the next curriculum stages involving attention to detail, and learning the art of the anticipation of guests' needs (a.k.a.: suggesting, enhancing, upselling etc...)

The narrative shifts from 'up-selling' to enhancing the dining experience. The byproduct is a more fulfilling dining experience, which yields a higher check average.

  • How long is the course material?

The short answer is about 4 hours of curriculum.
The program is broken down into 4 chapters.
Each chapter is about 1 hour long and taken on-demand, at your convenience.
We recommend tackling 1 chapter and exam each day for 4 days.

The enrollment period lasts 14 days for individuals, and 30 days for an entire staff (unless the new-hire / maintenance subscription is opted for, in which the program will remain ongoing).

FAQ's For Restaurant Owners & Managers

  • Once purchased, how long is the initial program valid for?

You'll have a full 30 days to enroll your staff and for them to complete the approximately 4 hours of coursework, exams and certification.
The curriculum is on-demand so they may each start and stop the course as needed, at their convenience.

  • What happens after the 30 day sign on period?

Though not obligatory, we highly recommend staying on with the low-cost subscription maintenance program.
This allows for all future new hires to pre-vet during onboarding and start on equal footing.
It also allows any member of your staff to revisit material at any time that they may be struggling with, or would just like to review.

  • How much is the ongoing new-hire / maintenance program subscription?

This optional program is meant to be effective, affordable and a sort of no-brainer for you. The low-cost of $165/mo. will give all future new-hires the same pre-vetted opportunity.
This keeps your new, high-value service level consistent, inexpensive, and ongoing.

  • How will I know when a particular employee, or when my entire staff, has taken the course?

Each member of your enrolled staff will receive certification upon their completion of the coursework.
Notification of these certificates will be sent to you.

  • Are there any contracts, or will I be obligated to anything?

No. After the 30 day sign-on, while highly recommended, the ongoing maintenance program is completely optional.
It is also cancelable at any time in the future if you do opt in and decide for any reason later on that it isn't a fit any longer.

  • What will I need to get this program started?

Over and over... Again and again...

What if you could increase your profits utilizing only the guests that are already walking though your door?

Would you?

  • We coin the term incidental sales to be: all the high profit sales that are currently being missed due to poor training and lack of knowledge & skillset.

  • This coursework utilizes expertise, through over 30 years of experience, intensive training, and continued education.

  • Pro-Waitstaff dives into fundamentals such as history of service, guest psychology and attention to detail.

  • The program effectively transforms an entire FOH staff into professionals with the potential to capture incidental sales and elevate the dining experience you currently offer to the next level.
